How do I remove Dryvit siding?
Will it come off in large pieces? Once the Dryvit has been removed I will be installing Hardy Plank lap siding – will it be best to fur out the wall so the finish siding it in the same finish location the in which the Dryvit was – as I understand it the Dryvit will be in excess of 1" thick?
dryvit is applied over styrofoam and fiberglass mesh, its not easy to take apart without a large mess.you may have to fur the wall back out so that when you hit your windows/doors/ eaves with the hardy board, everything matches as it did when there was dryvit on the wall.
four is right.. other thing is how they attached the foam.. more than likely its screwed on.. screws with big plastic washers. gonna be foam balls everywhere. maybe use a spade shovel to help get big pieces. the actual dryvit is like a drywall coating over the mesh its the foam that makes it thick
